Application Information:

• Deposits 23% Cr / 12%Ni / 2.5% Mo austenitic stainless steel weld metal
• High alloy content and ferrite level enable the weld metal to tolerate dilution from dissimilar and difficult-to-weld materials without hot cracking or brittle structures
• Used for wide range 300 and 400 series stainless-steels to mild / low alloy steels
• Welding matching 309 and 309L base metals
• Addition of 2.5% molybdenum (Mo) to type 309 weld metal makes this electrode popular for side welding of clad steel, such as ferritic steel and Cr-Mo steel clad with 316/316L stainless-steel
• Also used for buffer layers

Operating Information:

• All-positional (except vertical-down)
• Polarity: DC+ or AC+ (electrode +)
• Minimum recommended OCV (open circuit voltage): 70V
• Avoid high / excessive current
• Use straight "stringer" bead (rather than weave) technique
